Welcome to Harishchandra Press Club and Media Foundation (HPCMF), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating independent journalism, protecting journalists’ interests and rights, upholding media freedom, and providing comprehensive support in the field of journalism. Our foundation operates with the aim of promoting independent journalism, strengthening democracy, improving global rankings, and restoring public trust in the media.

Mission and Objectives

The primary mission of HPCMF is to promote independent journalism and encourage journalists to engage in public interest reporting. The foundation strives to secure editorial independence for any publications it initiates, ensuring they remain free from political, corporate, or any other pressures that could compromise their objectives. HPCMF is dedicated to protecting the interests and rights of journalists, providing wide support, and upholding media freedom. The foundation also collaborates with like-minded individuals, organizations, and institutions to promote independent journalism and provide training opportunities for aspiring journalists.

History

HPCMF was established in December 2020 by C.M. Jain and R.V. Pawar. With C.M. Jain leading the organization, the foundation has grown to become India’s pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to independent journalism. Since its inception, HPCMF has aimed to create an environment that supports unbiased reporting, fosters editorial independence, and restores public confidence in the media.

Activities

HPCMF actively participates in various activities related to journalism, both in India and globally. The foundation supports the production of online, broadcasting, digital, and print publications that cover current affairs, public policy, art, culture, and matters of public interest. Through organizing camps and offering financial and legal assistance, HPCMF encourages journalists to pursue public interest journalism and provides necessary support to protect their interests and rights. The foundation also collaborates with other non-profit publications, trusts, and institutions, extending aid and assistance to enhance the quality and reach of independent journalism.

Programs and Initiatives

  • The Harishchandra Digital Platform – In February 2021, HPCMF launched “THE HARISHCHANDRA,” a leading news, analysis, and opinion website available in English, Hindi, and Gujarati languages. This digital platform serves as a vital resource for the public, providing reliable and independent journalism in the public interest.
  • PLEDGE PETITION and Campaign for Ethical Journalism – In 2023, HPCMF initiated a campaign aimed at promoting integrity and transparency in journalism. The foundation launched a PLEDGE PETITION as part of this effort, urging individuals and media organizations to commit to ethical journalism. The campaign strives to foster responsible and accurate reporting practices in the media industry.
  • MediaAid Plugin to Empowering Journalism – In Apr 2023, The HPCMF developed the MediaAid plugin, a powerful tool designed to empower journalists, writers, content creators, news sites, and blogging platforms. This free WordPress plugin provides a seamless way for these individuals and organizations to receive financial support from their audience, including one-time or recurring grants, tips, royalties, and subscriptions. By utilizing the MediaAid plugin, journalists and content creators can build a loyal community of supporters and increase their income, thereby promoting independent journalism and sustainability within the industry.

Legal Status and Registration

HARISHCHANDRA PRESS CLUB AND MEDIA FOUNDATION (HPCMF) is a not-for-profit company incorporated on December 05, 2020, under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.

We are proud to be registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. Our registration details are as follows:

  • CIN Number: U85300GJ2020NPL118664

Additionally, we have obtained registration with Niti Aayog and NGO Darpan. Our registration number is GJ/2021/0288152, which further strengthens our commitment to transparency and accountability.

We have also been allocated a PAN AAFCH5698R by the authorities. Our PAN Number is AAFCH5698R, which enables us to carry out various financial and legal transactions in compliance with the relevant regulations.
